In early part of the 20th century sports jackets and coats were everyday wear before ready made designed coats for specific tasks. Since coats were worn for every type of work clothing makers found ways to cut corners to make a cheaper coat for this buying basic coats. To do this clothiers would have limited seams this coat recreates that you can choose to have no seams or just one along the back and because it was made as work wear the coat is unconstructed (nothing to help give it shape). You can also choose a stand collar (as pictured) or a flat collar (like most suit coats).
